UNIC at ULiège | A win-win situation for this doctoral student from Zagreb and the Department of Life Sciences

Lucija Kanjer, from the University of Zagreb, completed a two-month internship in the Department of Life Sciences under the supervision of Annick Wilmotte and her team. This collaboration, made possible by an FEMS Research and Training Grant obtained by the Croatian PhD student, brought together the teams from the two universities, which are members of the UNIC network.

NIC is the European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition, of which the University of Liège has been a member since its foundation in 2020. At the beginning of July 2023, the European Commission announced the continuation of the project, with a funding of €14.4 million and a four-year perspective.

While the second phase of UNIC will be launched in October 2023, collaboration within the network is already well underway. Lucija Kanjer's visit to the University of Liège led to discussions between scientists from the two universities (Zagreb and Liège), which augur well for an agreement facilitated by the fact that they belong to the same consortium.
