Festival of Cultures: the Finnish concept imported here!
Our colleagues in staff training to prepare for the 1st edition in Liège
On Thursday December 7, the Université de Liège campus will host its first ever Festival of Cultures, a festive and colorful event that enables members of the university community to showcase their culture. Three members of the Uliégeois staff travelled to Finland, where the Festival concept was born, to experience it from the inside.
Marie-France Bayard, Julie Hollenfeltz and Virginie Antonello proudly represented Belgium at the University of Oulu's Festival of Cultures on November 9. At their stand, they presented a condensed version of Belgian culture, Liège-style, with the added bonus of a quiz to test participants' knowledge of our country. This plunge into the heart of the event by our colleagues from the UNIC network, the University of Oulu, enabled the team who will be organizing the Festival of Cultures in Liège for the first time not only to get the measure of the organization, but also to exchange views on many aspects with their Finnish counterparts.
The benefits of a short but intense stay!
As part of their Erasmus training mission (STT), our delegation also had the opportunity to meet members of various departments at the University of Oulu: from International Relations to the UNIC coordination team, exchanges were fruitful and have already led to new thinking within our institution, particularly on the subject of BIPs (Blended Intensive Programmes).
The little-known Erasmus Training Missions (STT) allow students to spend a relatively short period of time (minimum 2 days) in another university. What's more, these jobshadowing experiences are encouraged and facilitated within the UNIC network.
